The Ringed Teal duck is ideal for a beginner in this hobby. They can be kept in a mixed collection but since they are small ducks care should be taken that there are enough nest boxes. They prefer warm weather, but can adapt fairly well to cooler climates. The drake remains colorful year round. These birds can and mostly breed in their first year. Their breeding season is long produce a lot of eggs. Clutches consist of 6-8 eggs and are incubated for about 24 days. If the eggs are removed early in incubation the hen will often lay a second clutch.
